Kick off Black History Month with Step Afrika!, a global show that introduces audiences to traditional African step and contemporary rhythmic dance popularized by historically African-American fraternities and sororities. Touring more than 50 countries, Step Afrika! expands on stepping’s unique American history by integrating songs, storytelling, humor, and audience participation in traditional Zulu dance. Founded in 1994 by C. Brian Williams, Step Afrika! is the first professional company dedicated to the tradition of stepping — a percussive dance form that uses the body as an instrument. Step Afrika! is also one of the world’s top 10 African-American dance companies.
